Record of our Meetings
​Our regular monthly meeting is on the second Thursday in every month at the Catholic Church Hall, Bath Road, Thatcham at 7.30pm when we either have a speaker or celebration event. ​​

On the coldest night of the winter we had a wonderful turn out for a fascinating talk by Sarah Somerville on her job ‘Working in Historic Houses in the 21st Century’.
She gave an entertaining and enthusiastic account of working at Highclere Castle for many years and where she is currently at Shaw House in Newbury which dates from the Elizabethan era. We were interested to learn about the filming for Downton at Highclere, cleaning of the chandeliers and her time spent in the Egyptology exhibition. Sarah showed us interesting photos of behind the scenes in Shaw House and the problems that need fixing, such as leaks and crows tearing up the lawn at night.
CHRISTMAS PARTY - What a wonderful evening with amazing food supplied by Cook and Butcher and a fabulous raffle table with lots of prizes all beautifully wrapped for the occasion. The entertainment ended with members joining in for a 'panto' read through - with s little acting added in for luck!!! Thank you to everyone who helped organise and make this such a memorable evening
October is our Birthday month - 86 this year!
As always we had our Big Birthday Cake and this year we had a sing-a-long
June Meeting - Susie from Pots of Hope came to demonstrate the art of Pottery bringing her throwing wheel with her and also some clay for those of us who wanted to make a small finger pot
